Hello World, Who am I?
I would like to thing of myself as a fairly experienced developer, with much to share. Curious to learn?
Hello World and Who am I?
Well lets start off with the very obvious title for a first post, it should be the first give away I live in the IT and programming space.
Now that explains the hello world, but the question you might be asking is, who am I? Well that is difficult to really answer, we all change and some of us might be completely different people after 10, 20 years. If you told 17 year old me I would be sitting down today and making a blog post about the insane journey I had to becoming a software developer, he would be very confused…
How did I get here?
Well this is a less philosophical question. I started my journey into programming at the age of 16, previously I always thought I would end up in some entertainment role, the change was really a full 180 departure from what my interests were back in 2016.
From there I studied Computer Science, although that is not really what got me where I am today, and I think had I not studied at all I would very much still be where I am today, but stay in school and get the degree if you can, the industry is extremely competitive at the time of writing and without a degree of some sort, you would be hard pressed to get into a developer position without really good networking.
On the topic of networking, it a round about way that is how I got into the IT Industry, although I started working in a helpdesk / call centre and stumbled my way into the development department through persistence and javascript injections to build reports on the website to increase the efficiency of my colleagues. This was however at a small company. I ended up in corporate fully through a good network I built up in university.
Why am I here?
This is an interesting one, maybe it goes all the way back to my days of wanting to be an entertainer, maybe I just want a place to give out my opinions, I’m not exactly sure… But I can say my goal is to share some life experiences, interesting tech related news and opinions, and maybe even some guides on how to do certain implementations.
What can you expect
Well here I will say lower your expectations, this is just a fun side project for me to ramble, document interesting finds and opinions, share some cool stuff etc. I would not really take anything here as coming from a place of authority.
Conclusion
I am just happy to have some people, or maybe even no one, look at this website and if I can make someone ask a question, learn about something new or even get an idea then it would all have been worth it.
